Kevin is the optometrist director at Specsavers in Flint. His background lies in education with previous roles as a chemistry teacher and lecturer in optometry.
He maintains a keen interest in developing others and is also a lead assessor for the Wales Optometry Postgraduate Education Centre (WOPEC), college assessor and examiner. Kevin works hard to maintain his own skills and strives to deliver clinical excellence for his patients. To support this, he has undertaken further training in independent prescribing, glaucoma, medical retina and low vision.

Andy is an optometrist with 30 years experience across all areas of practice. He is a Fellow of the College of Optometrist who also holds Diplomas in Independent Prescribing and Glaucoma alongside his Prof Cert in Medical Retina.
He uses all his qualifications to manage an increasingly complex range of patients under the WGOS service with a particular focus on Glaucoma and Emergency Eyecare.
He is a senior lecturer for Cardiff University in their Glaucoma Teach and Treat and heads up the Advanced Training Practice role in practice offering training placements for external optometrists to gain prescribing experience.
He sits on Optometry Wales and both his Local and Welsh National Optometric Committees and is a member of the BCLA as well as a Liveryman for the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers.
Dr Nigel Best

Nigel joined Specsavers as a resident optometrist in 1993 after graduating from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology. For two decades he practised as a community optometrist and was a director of two Specsavers stores in North East England. In 2021 he returned to his home in Northern Ireland to take on a full time Professional Services for Specsavers.
Alongside his work with Specsavers, Nigel has worked closely with editorial teams across the optical industry. He was formerly a member of the ‘Optometry in Practice’ editorial board and has published a number of papers in peer-reviewed journals.
In recognition of his work in the industry, Nigel was awarded a Fellowship of the British Contact Lens Association in 2009, followed in 2010 with a Fellowship of the American Academy of Optometry.
In September of 2014, Nigel was awarded with a Doctorate from Aston University.
In January 2017 Nigel was appointed to the Standards Committee of the General Optical Council and served on the committee for 8 years.
Dr Josie Forte

Dr Josie Forte is an experienced optometrist, registered with both the UK General Optical Council and the New Zealand Board of Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians. She graduated from Cardiff University in 1997 and earned her professional doctorate in optometry from Aston University in 2015.
Her career began in a hospital eye department, where she gained valuable experience managing complex eye conditions. Since 2008, Josie has been an ophthalmic partner at Specsavers, combining clinical expertise with leadership in her own practices in the South West of England. She also works with the Specsavers Professional Services team, focusing on clinical risk and governance.
Josie’s practices offer in addition to regular community optometry, enhanced eye care services, including minor eye condition clinics, glaucoma and cataract co-management, all supported by her growing team of accredited optometrists. Passionate about education and high standards, she actively contributes to the profession through teaching, community engagement, and involvement in regulatory forums.

Ross is an experienced optometrist & is ophthalmic director of Specsavers Northallerton, Thirsk, & Swaledale, & audiology director for Specsavers Thirsk. Ross has vast experience in developing, leading and facilitating CPD accredited training for practitioners of all levels of experience delivered at national and regional training events. He also works as a WOPEC Lead Assessor & pre-registration optometrist supervisor. Previous roles include Director of Optometry Advancement for Specsavers in the UK & Ireland and columnist for Optician magazine.
Paul Morris

Paul Morris is the director of professional advancement for Specsavers Opticians in the UK and
Ireland. The role involves furthering clinical scope, professional services, standards, training and
forming future strategy for the group including audiology and ophthalmology. Paul is also the
ophthalmic director of the Bridgend and Porthcawl stores in South Wales.
Outside of Specsavers, Paul has been a director of FODO (Federation of Ophthalmic and Dispensing
Opticians), chair of the Optical Confederation IT & Information Committee as well as an Optometry
Wales vice chair. He has previously undertaken work as a clinical supervisor for the Association of
Optometrists (AOP) and was founder and Director of BAM Optical Training & Solutions that
delivered teaching to optometrists and pharmacists in ocular pathology. Paul has also held positions
within the Hospital Eye Service as well as the School of Optometry & Visual Science in Cardiff. In 2011, he began working within WOPEC (Wales Optometry Postgraduate Education Centre) to deliver
postgraduate training to a range of health care professionals and inform policy.
He is passionate about improving clinical outcomes for all patients as well as education of clinicians,
allied professions and the public on the importance of eyecare.
Hayley is an optometrist and prior to joining Specsavers in 2016 has worked in a variety of settings, including hospital and independent practice. Most notably, Hayley was National Optometry Development Manager for Ultralase, and is a refractive
surgery and intra-ocular lens specialist.
Hayley works for Specsavers as Head of Enhanced Optical Services, aiming to expand the scope of optometry beyond standard eye tests by offering a wide range of eye health services in Specsavers stores. Hayley is also a Lead Assessor for WOPEC (Cardiff University's post-graduate scheme) and has accreditations in glaucoma, cataract and minor eye conditions.
Gordon Harrison

In 2017 Gordon joined Specsavers as Head of professional advancement and group clinical lead for Audiology for the UK and Ireland and leads the clinical support team in our desire to develop and improve the clinical standards across the business. Originally from Glasgow he started work as an Audiologist in 1989 and spent over 10 years in the NHS, before moving into manufacturing. He has covered a wide range of roles from Audiologist, Sales Representative, Technical Support Audiologist, Sales Manager, General Manager UK and Business Development Director EMEA for Unitron and finally Brand Manager for Widex before joining Specsavers. Gordon is extremely passionate about Audiology, the development of people, products and services that allow clinicians to deliver the best experience for our customers.
