Specsavers is starting to roll out free home hearing tests. If you, or someone you know, are unable to leave home unaccompanied due to a physical or mental illness or disability, we could come to you.

If you live in an area where the service is available, a Specsavers audiologist can come and visit you to carry out a thorough, professional hearing test in the comfort of your own home using the latest computerised equipment.

What happens in a hearing test at home?

During your at home hearing test, our specialist teams test your hearing, talk you through any hearing issues or questions you have and generally put your mind at ease.

If you do need a hearing aid, they can fit them for you and adjust them to perfectly fit your ear. Everyone’s hearing is different and it’s important to tailor your hearing aids so that they meet your needs perfectly. Our qualified audiologists have a wealth of experience and will always recommend what's right for you.

Our great value digital hearing aids start from £495, and our rechargeable range starts from £995. You’ll have access to our aftercare package to make sure you’re fully supported on your journey with us, including a four-year warranty, a 100-day money-back guarantee*, Remote Assistance and more.

*From the date of fitting

If you’re worried about hearing loss, you can find out more about how hearing loss might affect you or someone close to you here on our understanding hearing loss page.

  • You are living with a diagnosed mental health condition that prevents you from leaving your home without the assistance of another person.
  • You may be housebound or bedbound due to a physical disability.
  • If you live in an area where NHS-funded home hearing visits are available, your GP may need to confirm you are registered as housebound and a formal GP referral may be required.

NHS-Funded home visits

In some areas, we offer an NHS-funded home hearing service.

This includes an NHS-funded hearing test, new hearing aids, and aftercare for up to three years. These visits are subject to meeting the local eligibility criteria.

If you live in an area where NHS-funded home visits are available, you may need to contact your GP for a referral to Specsavers, however in some areas you can book directly with your local home visits team without the need for a referral. Give us a call on 0800 023 2894 to find out more.
