How to buy glasses with lens tints at Specsavers

First, you pick your favourite frames, then, when you choose your lenses, simply choose to add a tint. We treat this as an optional extra, just like adding an UltraClear SuperClean treatment or opting for thinner lenses. It's a quick and simple way to get prescription tinted glasses that are made just for you.

We have lots of colours available, whether you want a standard tint or a mirrored finish. This means you can create a pair of tinted sunglasses that perfectly match your personal style.

How much do tinted lenses cost at Specsavers?

For a standard sun tint, which includes UV protection, you'll pay just £30, plus the cost of your chosen frames. If you'd rather go for a glare-reducing mirror lens finish, this will cost £60 on top of the cost of your glasses choice.

Keep in mind that these prices are just for the tint or mirror treatment itself, which we apply to your chosen prescription lenses.

Can lens treatments be applied to designer prescription glasses?

Yes, they can!

When you choose a pair of prescription tinted glasses, the tinting process is a treatment we apply to the lens, not the frame. This means you are completely free to pick any frame from our selection, including the latest designer glasses, and we can apply your chosen tint or mirror finish to the lenses.

Benefits of mirrored & tinted prescription glasses

Choosing to upgrade your lenses with a tint or mirror finish brings with it a whole range of visual and practical benefits.

UV Protection:

All our sun tints and mirrors automatically come with UV protection. This is vital for helping to protect the eye and the delicate skin around it from sun damage, supporting your long-term eye health. Protecting your eyes from harmful UV reduces the risk of certain eye health conditions, including cataract and macular degeneration.

Anti-Glare:

Adding a tint or mirror treatment significantly reduces glare. This is particularly noticeable when you are out driving, participating in water sports, or simply enjoying a bright, sunny day. Mirrored lenses are especially effective, as the highly reflective coating bounces light away from the front of the lens.

Reduce Eye Strain:

By limiting the amount of light that enters your eye, tinted lenses help to reduce the strain and fatigue that can come from being exposed to constant bright conditions. This makes them great for driving and outdoor activities.

Achieve Unique Styles:

A tint offers a simple and affordable way to achieve a unique look. With a variety of colours and finishes available, from bold, vibrant tints to striking mirrored lenses, it’s an easy way to reflect your personality.

Affordable Sunglasses:

A great benefit of adding a tint is that it's a very affordable way to turn any pair of standard glasses into a pair of tinted sunglasses. However, keep in mind that once the tint is applied, the process cannot be reversed, so these lenses will stay coloured permanently.
