Alex Stedman: Glasses and Sunglasses Edit

Hi! I’m Alex, Fashion Editor and long-time prescription glasses wearer and I have curated an edit of my favourite unisex glasses (and sunglasses) from the Specsavers collection, in a range of excellent price points.

I have worn glasses since I was 11 but only in the last few years have I really embraced wearing them everyday and for every occasion (I used to take them off for photos and special events). Nowadays, you will always catch me in glasses, whether I’m at my desk writing my newsletter, filming for social media, or dressing them up at a black tie event.

The Specsavers range has something for everyone: chunky bold frames, colourful oversized pairs all with the affordability we expect, which means it’s easier to change up your style and make glasses a key part of your look for less.

I am honoured to be part of Specsavers first ever creator-led collab, I really hope you like my selects! All available exclusively at Specsavers.

Specsavers - FERN £130

These are my current number one pair and I have worn a version of this style of frame for years. This pilot style shape is kicked up a notch with the bold silhouette but they’re not heavy to wear at all. I love to style these with any outfit but they’re a dream with a classic off-duty jeans and oversized shirt look.

Specsavers - FICUS £30

These rose gold frames are so easy to wear and illuminate features, they’re also the most affordable pair in my edit, and look way more expensive than their £30 price tag.

Viktor & Rolf - VR08 £170

I have been wearing these Viktor & Rolf frames for the last year (even meeting the designers in Amsterdam whilst wearing them!) and the dark circular frames add such a great focal point to an outfit, perfect for someone who likes a traditional style with a bit of oomph.

Specsavers - VAZON SUN RX £70

As soon as I started wearing prescription sunglasses, my life changed infinitely for the better! I prefer to add prescription lenses to a pair of colourful frames which can work as a colour pop to a plain outfit - the sunglasses are the outfit. This green cat-eye pair fit the bill perfectly.

Marc Jacobs - MARC JACOBS 14 £150

One thing I love about Specsavers is the diversity of frames and brands, and Marc Jacobs is just one of many fab designer collections in their range. I find a metallic frame is great for an evening outfit and I always reach for this pilot style when dressing up for an occasion (but of course they look great everyday, too).

Specsavers - BASSWOOD £90

These mid brown frames have a bit of a 70s nod to them which I adore (and this retro style is a key look for summer), the ‘Basswood’ are the perfect statement pair and would set off tan accessories so well! These would transition so well into sunglasses, too.

Specsavers - COLOUR UNION 04 £90

Bold colour is a big trend prediction for glasses and the colour of these frames is simply joyous. I like the opacity too, they’d be easy to style with both a simple and more colourful outfit. As a glasses wearer, style advice growing up was always to ‘tone down’ your look with glasses, but with these I am drawn to the idea of teaming with even more vibrant colour - own it!

Specsavers - ALVAR £70

A modern take on a classic pilot style frame (of which I am a fan, as you can probably tell), the black metal frames are super lightweight and a real go-to within my wardrobe. I love mixing metals too and these go particularly well with gold or silver jewellery and accessories.
