NHS funded home visits:
For home eye tests, if you meet these conditions you can have a free NHS-funded eye test at home regardless of whether you live in your own house, flat or a care home.
For home hearing tests, In some areas, we offer an NHS-funded home hearing service. This includes an NHS-funded hearing test, new hearing aids, and aftercare for up to three years. These visits are subject to meeting the local eligibility criteria.
If you live in an area where NHS-funded home hearing tests are available, you may need to contact your GP for a referral to Specsavers, however in some areas you can book directly with your local home visits team without the need for a referral.

How long do home visits take?
Read moreRead lessThe time taken for our home eye and hearing tests can vary a little. We may need some time to slightly adjust some furniture to prepare the space, but in most cases, this isn’t necessary. Once the home visiting team member is set up, your eye or hearing test will begin. We deliver the same thorough tests that you would expect in-store, so your home hearing or eye test will take about the same time.

We are required to notify the NHS in advance of your appointment, so if we are seeing up to two people at the same address we have to provide a minimum of 48 hours notice, and if we are seeing more than two people at the same address this increases to three weeks.
Can I get an urgent appointment if I need to be seen straight away?

For most customers, there is an additional, non-refundable fee of £30 for sales of glasses carried out in a home environment. This fee covers the increased cost of an experienced member of our team hand-delivering your glasses to your home, making any adjustments and checking that you’re happy with your purchase - even if it means another visit.
The Home Visit Fee only applies to:
- Customers with an NHS voucher who purchase glasses from our £70 and over ranges
- Customers without an NHS voucher who purchase glasses
We do not apply the Home Visit Fee in these instances:
- for our initial visit and provision of a free NHS-funded eye test
- if there is no need for glasses
- if you purchase glasses from our £15, £30 and £50 ranges and have a full NHS optical voucher, allowing us to provide fully-funded glasses to qualifying customers
