Information for GPs
Improving access and choice for NHS Patients has been at the heart of the NHS for the past 60 years.
Recent NHS reforms have led to extending the reach of community healthcare to ensure that for many conditions patients can be seen closer to home, seven days a week and out of hospital, providing more value to the NHS and patients alike.
Ophthalmology carries the second largest outpatient cost to the NHS whilst many community opticians including Specsavers routinely deliver enhanced eye health pathways.
