National treasure, Alison Hammond has got a new job – and it’s not what you think! She’s joined our Home Visits team as the latest ‘Recruit’, swapping celebrity interviews for cuppa-making duties and helping people choose the perfect pair of specs, all from the comfort of their own homes.
Our new research shows nearly half of people who can’t leave their homes without support, are missing out on vital eye and hearing care. So, we invited Alison Hammond to lift the curtain on our Home Visits service - one cuppa, giggle, and eye test at a time.

We met so many amazing people who simply can’t get out and being able to visit them in their homes makes such a difference. As well as assisting with the eye test and helping customers choose their glasses, I got to have a proper chat with them and hear all about their lives. Not being able to reach a store can have a profound impact. One in five carers report that the person they look after has experienced a decline in their eyesight, while one in ten have untreated hearing loss, because they cannot get to a store. This affects everyday life – making it harder to enjoy things we often take for granted, like watching TV, reading the newspaper, or staying in touch with family and friends.
Specsavers Home Visits provide eligible individuals with a comprehensive, NHS-funded eye test in the comfort of their own home. In selected UK locations, we also offer free home hearing checks.
