Unpaid carers in the UK provide care worth an estimated £184 billion a year – the equivalent value of a second NHS. However, their value has only ever been represented as this number… until now.

Specsavers Home Visits and Carers UK are delighted to reveal “The Most Valuable Portrait.” This one-of-a-kind portrait, painted by acclaimed artist Colin Davidson, has been commissioned to highlight the immense value of the care that unpaid UK carers provide to their loved ones.

Through our Home Visits service, which offers eye care and hearing services to those who cannot leave their home unaccompanied, our teams witness each day the amazing support that unpaid carers provide to their loved ones and the value they bring to society at large.

To support unpaid carers across the UK, including anyone who supports their friends and family, but doesn’t see themselves as a carer, we’ve created the Specsavers Carers Hub. This is a central source of information and advice for those looking after one of their friends or family. Working with a range of organisations, experts and carers we’ll cover everything from batch cooking to budgeting.

To help raise vital funds for Carers UK, the leading national charity for unpaid carers, we are auctioning “The Most Valuable Portrait”.*
