Ask the expert

What can the optician see when they look at the inside of my eye?

Answer:

Looking at the inside of your eye is important to make sure that everything's healthy.

The eye's the only part of the body where you can observe the health of the blood vessels, so your optician can check for any signs of high blood pressure if you have circulation problems.

Your optician will also be able to see the effect of other health problems such glaucoma, diabetes or any unusual reactions to medications.
