These drops are used to numb the surface of the eye to allow your optometrist to carry out clinical activities such as measuring your eye pressure or removing a foreign body.

They take around 60 seconds to work and generally last up to 25 minutes. The drops may sting for a very brief period after instillation.

It’s important to avoid rubbing your eyes or getting dust or grit into them. And don’t wear contact lenses until your optometrist advises you that it’s safe to do so.

If you experience any unusual symptoms such as blurry vision or pain or soreness in or around the eyes, contact your Specsavers store or seek medical advice urgently. You may be experiencing an adverse reaction to the anaesthetic drops.
