At Specsavers, our purpose is simple: to change lives through better sight and hearing by making expert care accessible and affordable for everyone.
We know that people affected by homelessness are more likely to face serious eye and hearing problems yet often encounter major barriers when trying to access care.
Anyone affected by homelessness can visit any Specsavers store in the UK to receive free eye and ear health services through our ‘Charity VIP’ scheme.
We know that when you’re experiencing homelessness, there’s a lot to deal with, and your health might not feel like a priority, but getting your eyes and ears checked can improve your confidence and overall wellbeing.
Simply fill out the form below to book an appointment.
You won’t pay a penny, and you’ll find a warm welcome from our store teams.

What to expect during your eye test
There will likely be two or three people with you during your eye test: an optical assistant who will complete the pre-screen before your eye test, an optometrist, who’ll carry out the full eye test, and a dispensing optician, who’ll help you to choose a pair of glasses if you need them. If you’d like to bring someone with you to your appointment, that’s no problem.
Letters or pictures – it’s up to you
Your optometrist will use a chart with letters or pictures of different sizes to measure how well you can see. If you’d be more comfortable using pictures, please just tell your optometrist.
Want the lights left on?
We’ll do everything we can to make your eye test a comfortable and positiveexperience. For some bits of the test, we normally need to turn the lights off. But if you want them to stay on, just let your optometrist know.
Other parts of the eye test
Your optometrist will take a digital photograph of the back of your eyes using a specialist camera. A small puff of air will also be blown into your eye to check your eye pressure – don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt at all.
