Specsavers in Yardley is supporting a local cricket club which will help boost the opportunities for children to learn, train and develop in the sport.
The team is supporting Sheldon Marlborough Cricket Club with a two-year sponsorship arrangement for its junior teams. The deal will enable the club to acquire more equipment, train more coaches and therefore offer cricket to more youngsters from the Yardley, Sheldon and Stechford areas. Currently the club has 60 junior members between the ages of nine and 15, most of which live in the local area.
A word from the store director
‘We’re delighted to be supporting Sheldon Marlborough Cricket Club,’ said store director Dee Browning. ‘As a not-for-profit organisation the club relies on subscriptions and sponsorship, so local support is vital to ensure the valuable work they do teaching and nurturing young talent continues.’
'Great to have support'
‘It’s great to have the backing of Specsavers Yardley and we are looking forward to working with the store over the next two years,’ added junior section co-ordinator Adrian Maguire. ‘As a club our work in the local community is paramount - our aim is to cater from grassroots levels, through to county standard - offering an all-inclusive opportunity for anyone who wants to be involved with the sport. We are the only cricket club in the area and it is great to have this support from the local community.’
