Staff at Specsavers in Worthing have put their heads together to raise more than £500 for Brain Tumour Research’s ‘Wear A Hat Day’.

The team each paid £1 to wear novelty hats and headgear and invited their customers to get in on the fun with a host of fundraising activities in the store.

Prizes galore

The event was led by audiologist Hannah Lyon and featured a bake sale and a tombola. The prizes included a £200 spectacles voucher, which was won by a customer who immediately bought a pair of designer frames from the store.

Meanwhile, floor manager Tobias Craig-Brown endured having his beard shaved off and legs waxed to help raise money for the good cause.

A worthy cause

Following the event, held on Friday 31 March, the store has raised a total of £508.84 for Brain Tumour Research.

Cheryl Spray, store director at Specsavers Worthing, said: ‘This is our second year in succession that we have supported Wear a Hat Day and Brain Tumour Research, and it is a charity that is close to our heart. We would like to say thank you to all the customers for their donations and support.’
