Staff in Worcester Specsavers are taking to the streets in June, encouraging the public to take selfies to raise money for charity.
On every Saturday throughout June the store will have a selfie station outside to encourage passersby to enter the Spectacle Wearer of the Year (SWOTY) competition. Staff will hand out goody bags and ask shoppers to take selfies wearing their specs.
Store director, Alan Richards, said: ‘We think it’s important that people wear their glasses with pride and not be ashamed of them. The Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition is a great way to show how good specs look and we’re excited to get the public involved at our selfie station.’
About the Competition
Spectacle Wearer of the Year (SWOTY) is specs-wearing competition run by Specsavers and charity Kidscape, searching for people who wear their glasses with pride. The winner will be crowned Spectacle Wearer of the Year and receive £10,000 plus other prizes. For every entry Specsavers donate £1 to Kidscape which helps to support those who have been affected by bullying in the UK.
