Specsavers Wood Green has raised £1,000 during a spec-tacular fundraiser for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice.
Fred Agyarko, store director and Heena Mistry, optometrist at the Specsavers store, located at 88-96 High Road, presented Taylan Uysal from the charity with a cheque for £1,000 when he visited the store in March.
Fancy dress and raffles
Staff organised a variety of activities throughout 2013 to raise money including fancy dress days, international food days, cake sales and raffles to win prizes from chocolate hampers to designer glasses. They also offered customers glasses MOTs in exchange for donations.
Fred Agyarko, store director of Specsavers Wood Green, said: ‘The generosity of local residents has been incredible and has really helped us to raise vital funds for the hospice so we want to thank everybody for joining in and supporting us.’
Punyapriya Singh, Noah’s Ark Community Fundraising Manager continued: ‘We rely on our local community to raise funds because the support we offer to families is free so I can’t thank the staff and customers at Specsavers enough for their support and generous donation.’
Noah’s Ark hospice
Noah’s Ark is an expanding children’s hospice service, providing practical and emotional support to life-threatened and life-limited children or young people, and their families, living within the communities of North London, specifically the boroughs of Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington. To date Noah’s Ark has worked with more than 200 families.
The charity’s aim is to support these families in a flexible way – responding to their specific circumstances with services that encompass the whole family enabling them to live positive lives and face the future with hope. These services range from practical and emotional support, outings for the whole family and, in some cases, end-of-life and bereavement care.
