Locals were transported to the carnival last weekend at Specsavers in Wolverhampton as they fundraised for The Deanesly Centre at New Cross Hospital, raising more than £230.
Classic fairground games
Visitors to the store in the Wulfrun Centre mingled with lion tamers, mimes and fortune tellers as staff dressed up as traditional carnival characters and offered competitions and food in return for donations. Customers tried their hand at classic fairground games like ‘hook a duck’ and tucked into popcorn.
‘We had a wonderful time at our carnival day and raised £231.37, which makes our total amount raised now £709.42!’ said store director Hardip Bahia. ‘Staff and customers had a lot of fun, and all the hard work definitely paid off.
‘Everything we made on the day will go directly to the Deanesly Centre to support the incredible work they do there. We’re so grateful for the generosity of our customers and locals who dug deep so that we could raise such a fantastic amount.’
The Deanesly Centre is a purpose-built oncology unit, which provides vital clinical and support services for those suffering with cancer.
