Specsavers opticians in Witham are supporting Witham Mill Lane Bowls club by sponsoring the club for £750 ahead of the new season.
The club celebrated its new partnership with the Specsavers Witham team and opened for the new season during an open day where Specsavers store staff joined bowlers to take the first steps down the green and bowl the first game of the summer.
Support of local businesses
Chairman of the club, Howard Williams, says: ‘We are very grateful to Specsavers for their sponsorship. It is essential for the club to have the support of local business such as Specsavers as it provides us with the funding we need to keep the club running during the season, while also providing reduced annual membership rate of only £40 for those that want to learn a new sport while making new friends.
Make new friends
‘It also means we can offer fantastic membership rates which allow everyone to get involved! To get started, you do not need to join our club as we offer two free sessions for everyone who comes to our green in Mill Lane at 1:30pm on any day. We will lend you a set of bowls and give a free lesson. So why not come down, learn a new sport and make new friends.’
Honour for the team
Specsavers Witham store director, Jennifer Bowen, says: ‘We really enjoyed spending the day at the club and it was an honour for the team to be allowed to bowl the first ball of the season. We hope that we can support the club and the Witham community for a successful season of bowls.
