Customers at Specsavers in Wishaw made Christmas just a little bit brighter for vulnerable families with a generous donation to a local foodbank.
During the festive season, the store on Main Street encouraged customers to donate non-perishable items for Basics Foodbank, based in Wishaw Baptist Church.
The foodbank supports people who struggle to provide food for their families by offering items like long-life milk, tins of meat and vegetables, rice and coffee for free.
Overwhelmed by generosity
Big-hearted customers and staff collected a plentiful supply of essentials, including tins, sauces, cereal and tea bags.
Store director Erin Riddell was overwhelmed by the generosity of local people.
She said: ‘We’ve been bowled over by how kind people have been, especially at a time of year that’s full of additional expense.
‘There were so many donations that we struggled to fit all of the items in one car. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated.
‘Supporting our local community is very important to us and we were very proud to help a great cause in this way.’
