Specsavers in Wishaw is helping youngsters to stay safer when out and about during the darker afternoons and evenings by donating high-visibility vests to local school pupils.
Pupils at Wishaw Academy Primary received vests from the Specsavers store on Main Street.
Optical assistants Margaret Paterson and Natalie Scullion visited the youngsters to deliver around 70 vests and to speak about road safety.
The vests are designed to increase the safety of local children when they are out and about by making it easier for motorists to spot them.
Important to be visible
Specsavers Wishaw store director Erin Riddell said: ‘As the afternoons become increasingly darker, it becomes more difficult for drivers to see pedestrians.
'Many primary school pupils have to travel home at dusk, so it’s very important for them to be as visible as possible.
‘We’re so pleased that we’ve been able to donate the vests to help children stay safe.’
