Specsavers in Wisbech is showing its support for World Glaucoma Week (11-18 March) by completing additional training to learn more about the condition.
Glaucoma is thought to affect around 700,000 people in the UK, and Specsavers March is aiming to raise further awareness of the condition by backing World Glaucoma Week this month.
Staff members have completed a course designed in conjunction with the International Glaucoma Association (IGA), which will enable them to assist glaucoma sufferers in manging the condition, such as advising on how to effectively administer eye drops.
'Early detection is key'
Gareth Drewett, store director at Specsavers Wisbech, said: ‘Glaucoma is a serious eye condition and can lead to irreversible sight loss, so early detection is key to managing the condition. With the training, are staff are even better prepared to help assist customers living with glaucoma.’
