Young Wisbech resident Jessica Rose Austen has won the Specsavers Wisbech glasses design competition.
First prize is a pair of new ‘sunnies’
The contest, which was for young artists under the age of 12, was in celebration of National Sunglasses Day (27 June). First place prize was a pair of prescription sunglasses - 10-year-old Jessica chose a pair of red Aurora frames with a brown tint.
Assistant manager of Specsavers in Wisbech, Lee Smith, chose the winning design. He said: ‘We had 15 fantastic entries for the competition, but I loved the eccentricity and colourfulness of Jessica’s picture. It showed real creativity.’
Colourful and eccentric
When asked how they should achieve the rainbow-coloured tint on the lenses, as seen in her drawing, Jessica said: ‘Paint them!’
