Specsavers Winterstoke Road was officially opened by the company’s co-founder, Dame Mary Perkins, on Monday 24 September.
The ten-strong team welcomed Dame Mary along to cut the ribbon and have a tour of the store which is situated in Sainsbury’s on Winterstoke Road. A Specsavers quadruped was also on hand to entertain customers and a team of hearing ambassadors gave visitors the opportunity to get their hearing checked and find out more about the service offered at the store.
Run as a joint-venture partnership, the store is headed up by optical director, Anne-Ita McLongley and retail director, Chris Shill, who also run Specsavers in Bedminster and a domiciliary service for the Bristol and Gloucestershire area. The store benefits from the very latest in optical equipment which includes an Optical Coherence Technology (OCT) machine, usually found in hospital eye departments, which produces a structural scan of the eye.
‘We were delighted that Dame Mary was able to join us for the official launch and it was great to be able to show her around the store,’ said Chris. ‘Lots of hard work has gone into getting it ready and we’re really pleased with how it looks and can now welcome customers through the doors.
A wealth of experience
‘We have two testing rooms as well as a dedicated, sound-proofed hearing room, pre-test area and more than 1,000 different frame styles on display,’ continued Anne-Ita. ‘Between the team, we have 68 years’ optical experience, so we understand how important the customer experience in store is. Our aim is to provide the very best optical and audiology care to the local community in an accessible location.’
The store is open Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm and Sunday 10 am to 4 pm. Hearing appointments will also be available on selected days.
