With two years of experience already under her belt, Magda Wilczynska is setting her sights on a bright future in the optical industry.
Currently an optical consultant at Specsavers in Windsor, the former Henley College student is making the most of the retailer’s in-house training scheme to become a fully qualified dispensing optician.
Born in Poland, Magda moved to Burnham with her family as a child and loves getting to know the community.
Magda, said: ‘I’ve been working with Specsavers for the last two years and love seeing the familiar faces coming through the store every day. Retail is something I’ve always enjoyed but after a while I realised I wanted more. Thankfully Specsavers has an amazing staff training programme and I’ve been able to work towards gaining a qualification to become a dispensing optician.
‘Once complete I’ll be fully certified to sign off customer’s prescriptions before they leave the store – it’s almost like giving every pair of glasses one final Specsavers seal of quality approval. There’s a lot of work and study that goes into understanding the optics side of things but I love a challenge and being able to work towards this without having to take time out of my job is fantastic.’
A word from the director
Seema Patel, store director at Specsavers in Windsor, added: ‘Magda has been a wonderful addition to our team in Windsor. She never fails to put a smile on customers’ faces and always makes sure they’re getting the best possible care. That’s why we thought she would be a fantastic dispensing optician. We have a real focus on training and development within the store and across the company and love to help develop our team to be the best it can be.
‘Working towards a qualification like dispensing optician is a great way for young people to develop their career and set themselves up for continued success for years to come.’
