A young woman from Specsavers in Winchester has been presented with a special award from The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) for achieving one of the highest scores in her course.

Highest mark

25-year-old Aimee Brown received the award after graduating from a dispensing optician course at ABDO College in Canterbury.

Aimee received the highest mark in the Communication module of her practical exam.

Training as a DO

Aimee said: ‘I was very happy to receive this award after all the hard work!

‘I started working as a Saturday girl at the age of 16 at Specsavers Winchester and the store director, Krupesh offered me the chance to train as a dispensing optician (DO).

Achieving her goal

‘I was very grateful for the opportunity to study at ABDO College and put in a lot of hours to achieve my goal of becoming a DO. It was a fantastic feeling to finally graduate and it was even more rewarding to achieve the highest score in one of my modules.

‘I’d just like to thank the staff at Specsavers Winchester for all their support throughout my time at ABDO and for helping me further my career in optics.’
