Specsavers in Winchester put their best retinoscope forward at Westgate School to let students into the world of optics.
Staff from the store went along to their careers fair to educate pupils on how to get into the industry, handing out leaflets and offering advice.
Specsavers Winchester store director, Malini Barchha said: ‘We’re encouraging young members of our community to consider pursuing a fulfilling and exciting career in optics.
‘There are no set GCSE requirements to work at Specsavers as an optical assistant and the standard is to ask for 5 GCSEs at A*-C. To get into university to complete optometry, the students will need 3 A-Levels, with a minimum of two in science subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Maths). The majority of Universities ask for 2 ‘A’s’ and a ‘B’ to secure a place.
