Specsavers in Wimbledon is appealing for the local community to donate any old specs they have to the store’s Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) appeal.
After donating thousands of used and unwanted glasses last year, the store is renewing its support for VAO this year to help provide important eye care services to people living in challenging conditions in Africa.
Don’t delay, donate today
Residents with old glasses to spare can drop them off at the collection box located at Specsavers Wimbledon. These glasses are then collected and recycled, with funds raised from the reusable parts used to fund eye care projects in Burkina Faso, Ghana and other African countries.
Richard Sandiford, store director at Specsavers Wimbledon, said: ‘We are lucky in the UK in that we have easy access to professional eyecare services but other people around the world are not so fortunate. The more unused specs we receive, the more we can help Vision Aid Overseas to bring these vital eyecare services to those in need.’
