Red Nose Day supporters in Wick helped a local opticians completely sell out of its comedy waving hand glasses.
The Wick store sold more than 250 pairs of the specs ahead of the fundraising day which took place on 24 March, raising more than £500 for Comic Relief.
Helping hand from Miller Academy Primary
Ian Morris, store director at Specsavers in Wick, said: ‘We’d like to thank everyone in the town who supported our fundraising campaign and popped into the store to buy the specs.
‘We’d especially like to thank Miller Academy Primary pupils who bought a large chunk of our comedy specs.
‘The school’s big order helped us sell all of our waving glasses weeks before Red Nose Day took place.’
Wick joined Specsavers stores nationwide to support Comic Relief to help poor and vulnerable people living tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa and pledged to raise at least £250,000 for the charity. Specsavers has been a Comic Relief partner since 2015.
