Specsavers in Whitstable is on a mission to raise awareness of retinal migraines for this year Migraine Awareness Week.
Retinal migraine is an eye condition that causes brief attacks of blindness or visual problems like flashing lights in one eye. Vision may slowly become blurred or dimmed, or there may be flashes of light.
A word from the store director
Siobhan Fennell, store director at Specsavers in Whitstable, says: ‘Retinal migraine is caused by the blood vessels to the eye suddenly narrowing, reducing the blood flow to the eye.
‘Afterwards, the blood vessels relax, blood flow resumes and sight returns. Usually, there are no abnormalities within the eye and permanent damage to the eye is rare.
‘If you’ve been experiencing similar symptoms and are unsure about what it could be, make sure you visit your optometrist, who will be able to help you with the diagnosis.’
