From 21 to 27 September, Specsavers in Weymouth asked residents to come and donate their old specs to Vision Aid Overseas, to highlight National Eye Health Week.
Big charity push
The store collects for the charity regularly and did a big push during the awareness week to help Vision Aid provide eyecare services to people in Africa.
Specsavers Weymouth store director, Mark Hayles said: ‘People often take their eyes for granted, so it's important we draw attention to charities like Vision Aid Overseas who can give communities the same access to eyecare as we have.
Eye treatment for developing countries
'An old pair of specs can help make an incredible difference to developing countries as they are recycled and proceeds go towards establishing vision centres and giving people eye treatment. We're still collecting, so would like people to continue donating to help make a difference.'
