A local optical and hearcare provider has joined forces with Wetherby Bike Shack to ensure cyclists are road ready this summer.
Specsavers in Wetherby has pledged to provide free eye examinations and 50 per cent off cycling goggles to all customers who purchase bikes until the end of July 2014.
The move to highlight the need for cyclists to be cycle ready comes ahead of this summer’s cycling event which comes to the region 5 July 2014.
THE summer cycling event
Geoff Harper, store director at Wetherby Specsavers, explains: ‘The arrival of this summer’s cycling event is a really exciting time for cycling enthusiasts. I’m sure it will spur a lot of people to get back in the saddle which is why it’s the perfect time to remind people about the importance of being cycle ready.
Be visually alert when cycling
‘It’s vitally important that cyclists are fully alert from a visual point of view to be able to deal with the dangers that present themselves while cycling. Our collaboration with Wetherby Bike Shack has enabled us to air this health check message and I hope cyclists take note and act accordingly.’
Dean Buckle, owner of Wetherby Bike Shack, said: ‘I think this is a great collaboration and it will go a long way to support the need for cyclists to think about their health checks before they set off on a bike ride.’
