A local opticians celebrated this year's Comic Relief in style with a host of in-store fundraising activity for customers – and Dachshunds – to get involved with.

More than £300 raised...
The team at Specsavers in Wetherby raised more than £300 for the charity with a host of fun-filled activities, including a bake sale and a visit from some furry friends.

A visit from two furry friends...
Taking inspiration from Gok Wan, who recently won the Comic Relief special episode of the Great British Bake Off, the team at the Specsavers store popped on their pinny’s to bake a bundle of tasty treats. Customers indulged in store to help raise money for the worthy cause, and two frequent Specsavers visitors and Dachshunds, Amiety and Daisy, came straight from this year’s Crufts to the store’s fundraising activity to help raise vital funds.

A word from the store manager
Speaking about the Comic Relief in-store fundraising, Justine Zymanciute, store manager at Specsavers in Wetherby, said: ‘Comic Relief is a really worthy cause and we wanted to do all that we could throughout the day to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

‘We thoroughly enjoyed making our faces funny for money to support the great work that Comic Relief does. We want to thank all, young and old – and Dachshunds, who came to join in the fun and buy their Red Nose Day glasses!’
