The team at Specsavers West Bridgford has stepped in to help a pig as part of a local school’s farm project.
The store is sponsoring a pig on the Edwalton Primary School Farm, home to a menagerie of goats, sheep, Kune-kune pigs, hens, rabbits and guinea pigs. This support, alongside ongoing fundraising, will help ensure the farm can continue throughout 2019.
Edwalton Primary School is the longest running primary school in England with a working farm and has a three-acre wood attached to the school grounds. Animals are cared for by pupils and volunteers, with various initiatives involving the local community.
Appeal for help
‘When we received such an eloquent letter from two of the pupils at Edwalton asking for help, we simply couldn’t say no,’ commented store director, Stephen Rogers. ‘Edwalton Primary School is an amazing educational establishment and the farm brings so much joy - not only to the pupils but the wider community - that protecting it is a must.’
