The team at Specsavers in West Brigford is bringing community health into focus as they highlight the importance of good vision and eye care.
Eye health for the community
Eyesight is an important consideration for all ages and something which is often overlooked when considering a health regime as an ‘optional extra’.
However, Specsavers in West Bridgford is changing perceptions in the community by demonstrating the risks of leaving vision to chance and providing customers with the best possible experience in store.
A word from the store director
‘Eye tests are an incredibly important check-up to help spot and monitor any problems with your eyes more generally, not just as a prescription check,’ explained store director, Stephen Rogers.
‘We see many patients come into store only when they start noticing symptoms, at which point the problem has often already developed. A test should be booked in regularly and we recommend doing this at least every two years.
‘We’re very proud of our team and the high levels of service and expertise we provide to our customers. It’s important that we surpass the expectations of everyone that comes through the doors in our mission to provide high quality eye care for our local community.’
Keeping children visible
Specsavers in West Bridgford has been involved in educating local schools and community groups, as well as providing them with special fluorescent high visibility jackets to ensure that they stay visible and safe as the nights draw in.
Team members visited West Bridgford Junior School to talk to pupils about eye health and the importance of eye tests.
‘We view education as an important factor in changing the way our customers think about their eyes,’ explained Stephen. ‘As part of our mission to improve community eye care, members of our highly-qualified team are available to talk to local schools, community groups and organisations who feel that their members would benefit from their expertise.
‘As the winter months bring shorter days, we also want to ensure that the community stays safe on the roads, so we’ve been busy donating high visibility Specsavers vests to local groups.’
A sporting choice
Sport and eyesight go hand in hand, and supporting local teams is a priority for the store in West Bridgford. They have recently partnered up with West Bridgford Rugby Football Club.
‘One of the ways that we can give back to the community is by supporting the teams, groups and initiatives that our customers care deeply about,’ said Stephen.
‘For those who enjoy playing sport, it’s important that they factor in an eye test as part of their health regime, and we also offer a wide range of eye care options that make it easier to keep your eyes on the ball, including excellent value contact lenses.’
