Staff at West Bridgford Specsavers treated customers to an array of tasty treats on Friday (13 November), raising £94 for Children in Need.

The team swapped their specs for aprons as they hosted a cake sale. As well as offering a sample of sweet treats in return of a donation, customers also had the chance to win a teddy bear by taking part in the Name the Bear competition.

‘Children in Need does some fantastic work in communities right across the UK, so we’re really proud to be supporting them this month,’ said Stephen Rogers, store director. ‘The team baked up a storm on Friday and we were really pleased to see lots of customers join us for some cake to help raise money for the charity.’

To celebrate the launch of Specsavers’ new Minions children’s frames, staff are also inviting under-16s to show off their creative flair throughout November by designing and making pairs of specs for minions. The competition will be drawn on 30 November with the winner receiving a goody bag, complete with a pair of Minions specs.

Children in Need is BBC’s UK annual corporate charity and every penny that is raised goes towards helping disadvantaged and unfortunate children and young people across the UK. The charity also awards grants to projects across the country which support young people in achieving their full potential.
