Specsavers Wembley has been shortlisted for a prestigious optical award. The store, in the High Road, has reached the final six in the Enhanced Optical Service category at the Optician Awards 2018.
Supporting healthy communities
All the shortlisted finalists will meet at a drinks reception in London in March, before the awards are presented in Birmingham in April.
The store was shortlisted for helping eliminate the waiting list for diabetic retinal screening in the London Borough of Brent, and for the general commitment it shows to supporting healthy communities locally.
Delighted store director
Rakesh Kapoor, store director in Wembley, said: ‘To say we are delighted to have been shortlisted for this award is a massive understatement.
‘Since we opened the Wembley store almost a quarter of a century ago, we have been committed to supporting local people – which is why, when we realised the challenges around diabetic retinal screening locally, we wanted to help.
Helping people access services
‘By opening weekend clinics and extending the hours that screening was available locally, we have helped many people access this vital sight-saving service at their convenience.
‘That is reward enough for us, but to take home the trophy in April really would be the icing on the cake.’
