Specsavers Wembley has a real family feel – and part of that is down to a real life mother and daughter team who work at the High Road store.
And optical assistant Kanta Patel and optometrist Svapna Rabadia love working together.
A word from Kanta
Kanta said: ‘I have worked as an optical assistant at the Wembley store for about 11 years now. I liked Specsavers from the beginning because it was different and gave me so much experience in everything from frame styling to stock.
‘Svapna was always good at sciences, so when she was thinking about what to do for a career I suggested she should think about optometry. No one else in the family is in optics, so I do not think Svapna went into it because of me – I think she would have discovered it anyway. She is doing very well and I am very proud of her.’
A word from Svapna
Svapna said: ‘I think I would have gone into optometry anyway, even without mum working for Specsavers. I did a two-week work experience placement at the Wembley store and as I watched the optometrists work I knew that was what I wanted to do.
‘I am used to working with mum and it is nice. I try not to call her mum in front of patients, but I cannot call her by her first name either because that feels weird.’
A word from the store director
Rakesh Kapoor, store director in Wembley, said: ‘We are proud of the family feel in our store, which our customers seem to love.
‘Kanta and Svapna are both assets to the team and we are delighted to have them with us.’
