Wembley locals headed down to a local opticians to celebrate a 20th birthday party and raise funds for Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity.
A special guest
The store organised the event to celebrate 20 years of providing optical services in the community and offered visitors a slice of cake and little ones party bags. The spec-tacular anniversary cake was cut by the Mayor.
The Mayor, Councillor Kana Naheerathan said: ‘It was a wonderful day and I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of it - I even had an eye test to get into the spirit!
'I would like to congratulate the store on their strong presence in the community and I’d like to wish them all the luck going forward with another 20 years.’
Giving back to the community
The store also helped to raise money for Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity which grants wishes for seriously and terminally ill children around the UK.
The charity was founded in 2003 and since then has made more than 3,500 wishes come true – helping children aged three to 18 to enjoy a moment of escape away from their illness.
Jane Sharpe, CEO of Rays of Sunshine said: ‘We are so grateful to Specsavers for choosing to support Rays of Sunshine. While we are a national charity our office is based in Wembley, which meant we were able to come down on the day to get involved.
‘It was great to be able to see the amazing efforts the store had gone to, not to mention the incredible cupcakes. £168 was raised on the day which will help us to make a wish come true for a seriously ill child.
'We really appreciate the ongoing support of Specsavers, Wembley, and look forward to working together to help more brave and deserving children in the future.’
