Specsavers in Welwyn Garden City has launched an appeal in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.

A fundraising tin has been installed in the Howardsgate store to raise vital cash for the special cause over the coming quarter. Leading the charge is one the store’s owners, Andrew Durrant.

Andrew will be taking on a half marathon in the Royal Park series this October in a bid to raise £350 towards the total.

A word from the store director

Andrew said: ‘You can’t fail to be moved by the work carried out by Great Ormond Street and the charity supports everything from research to modernisation at the hospital.

‘We’d be grateful for any contributions from customers over the coming months as we embark on this fundraising campaign. We want to help make a difference for the young people under the hospital’s care today and for those who will need their services in the future.’
