Customers visiting Specsavers in Wellington are amongst the first to have the chance to make a contactless donation, as well as drop off any old specs, for Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) in store.
Staff are calling on the community to make the most of their new contactless donation system. Wellington is one of the first stores to offer the contactless donation box and if successful, the initiative will be rolled out nationally.
‘Making donations using our contactless box is quick and easy; customers can even use their phones to make it even more convenient,’ said store director, Satinder Sidhu. ‘Considering this is the trial run, the response from the community has been fantastic so far.
‘While the technology is all very exciting, we are still urging anyone with specs they no longer use to drop them off at our collection box in store,’ adds Satinder. ‘These specs will help to make a huge difference to the lives of people with limited access to optical care.’
Specs are donated to the VAO appeal; helping to provide outreach services and optical volunteers to communities in Africa where access to professional eyecare is limited.
