Specsavers in Wellington has decided to make The Macular Society its chosen charity partner for 2019. The team plan to hold a host of fundraising activities throughout the year to raise money for the charity which helps thousands of people come to terms and cope with their macular disease diagnosis.
A word from the store director
‘We wanted to focus on fundraising for 2019 and The Macular Society seemed like the perfect fit,’ said store director, Emma Davies. ‘Macular disease is the leading cause of sight loss in the UK so it’s hugely important that we do what we can to ensure that research into the disease continues.’
The Macular Society is a UK-wide charity supporting people who suffer with macular disease something which usually affects over 60s and causes blurred or loss of central vision. The charity helps to fund research, as well as covering the cost of operating helplines and support groups for people suffering with the condition.
