Specsavers Wealdstone are delighted to be an early adopter of cutting edge technology designed to help detect a wide range of eye conditions much earlier.

Optical coherence tomography, better known as OCT, is being rolled out across Specsavers stores in the UK this year – but as a new store, the team at Wealdstone High Street have it available earlier than most.

Good news

This is good news for local patients, as those who need an OCT test will be able to access one quickly and easily for just £10.

The machine can help detect the early stages of conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. In all these conditions, early detection is vital in saving sight.

An OCT test is most useful for the over 40’s, or for people who already have a known eye condition or abnormality. It produces high resolution 3D images – which can be sent to a hospital right away if further treatment is needed.

Early diagnosis

Unhar Gupta, store director in Wealdstone, said: ‘The OCT device is a real step forward in early diagnosis of eye conditions, and we are delighted to have one available to patients at Specsavers Wealdstone.

‘Regular eye tests can be vital in spotting problems before they become more serious, and that includes conditions like diabetes as well as problems with the eyes. So if you have not has a test recently, why not book one at Specsavers Wealdstone today.’
