The team at Specsavers Wantage ditched their uniforms for their glad rags as they attended a charity ball and auction to culminate their year of fundraising for a local Alzheimer’s day care centre.
Over the course of the year staff have been raising funds for the October Club, including a bake sale and donation of a smart TV for auction – tallying up an impressive £606.67. The money will go towards ongoing refurbishments needed at the centre.
A word from the store manager
‘The support that the October Club offers is particularly close to a number of our team’s hearts, as we have several relatives suffering with Alzheimer’s and Dementia,’ commented Michael Buckley, store manager.
‘When we saw first-hand the work they do and the benefit they bring to the community we were keen to get involved in supporting them. The ball was a lovely evening and the perfect way to celebrate all that the October Club does, while raising valuable funds to help with its work.’
