Specsavers in Wantage supported Armed Forces Week 2015 (22 to 28 June) and raised £40 for Blind Veterans UK.
The store helped celebrate 100 years of the charity’s work helping blind ex-Service men and women, by encouraging donations in return for a specs MOT (cleaning and adjustment). The store was also decorated with flags.
Store director, Nicky Rutter, said: ‘A big thank you to everyone who supported us throughout the week. Blind Veterans UK is currently supporting more than 4,000 blind veterans and with our help, they hope to reach their target of recruiting 700 new beneficiaries in the coming year.’
Blind Veterans UK was founded in 1915 and offers support, training and rehabilitation to blind and vision-impaired ex-Service men and women. The charity’s mission is to ensure that all blind veterans have access to the finest quality services to help them discover life beyond sight loss.
