Wandseyecare experts have donated 777 pairs of specs to an international sight charity.
The team from Specsavers in Wandsworth’s Southside Shopping Centre amassed the collection of old and unwanted specs from visitors to the store throughout 2015.
Charity, Vision Aid Overseas - which operates in six African nations - will now recycle their usable parts to help fund improvements to eyecare services for those less fortunate overseas.
A word from the store director
Andrew Kemp, store director at Specsavers in Wandsworth, said: ‘We’ve had a truly wonderful response from the local community, with people often popping by with multiple pairs of old specs for our special collection box. It’s great to know they’ll be put to good use, rather than gathering dust in drawers across the borough. It’s such a simple initiative but it can really make a positive change in people’s lives.’
The store’s 2016 spec collection in aid of Vision Aid Overseas is now underway.
