Wandsworth eyecare experts are kicking off their annual campaign for Guide Dogs with the help of a cuddly canine mascot.

Max, the giant puppy is leading the team from Specsavers in Wandsworth’s Southside Shopping Centre as they launch their charitable appeal, which will feature a prize raffle, children’s tombola and a visit from trained Guide Dogs.

Local businesses are being asked to donate an item to the in-store raffle, with tickets going on sale during Guide Dogs Week (October 3-11).

A word from the store director

Andrew Kemp, store director at Specsavers in Wandsworth, said: ‘We’re passionate supporters of Guide Dogs and all the wonderful work they do in supporting people who are blind or partially sighted.

‘With the help of our friendly mascot Max we’re hoping to break last year’s fundraising target of £1587 and are already receiving some fantastic raffle prizes in store.’

The store’s Guide Dogs appeal will culminate in a visit from guide dogs Willow, Coco and Otto on November 7, when the raffle prize winners will be announced. The dogs will be in store with their owners from 10am-4pm, when Guide Dogs merchandise will also be on sale.
