Not content with promoting Comic Relief on National television, Specsavers in Walworth Road also managed to raise £324 for the charity through the sale of comedy specs.
On Red Nose Day (Friday 24 March), seven members of staff from the store were featured live on BBC One alongside Miranda star, Sarah Hadland, starring in a spoof sketch based on the Matrix.
However, the team didn’t let their national acclaim get to their heads and the money raised from comedy specs sales had helped Specsavers to surpass their £250,000 target, with stores raising over £470,000 nationwide.
Specsavers Walworth Road store director, Radhika Radia commented: ‘Taking part in the BBC filming really was a once in a lifetime experience and we were all incredibly grateful for the opportunity to help make a difference for people supported by Comic Relief.
'The amount raised overall by Specsavers this year has been superb and we’d like to think we’ve certainly played our part.’
