After donating more than 2,000 pairs of glasses to the Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) appeal last year, Specsavers In Walton-on-Thames is calling on the community to help them smash this figure this year.

The team is calling on customers to drop off any unwanted and unused specs at the business, which are collected and recycled by Vision Aid Overseas.

Funds generated from the reusable parts are then used to provide professional eyecare to people living in isolated communities in Africa.

Breaking records

Conor MacCarthy, store director at Specsavers Walton-on-Thames, said: ‘We had a brilliant response from the community to our Vision Aid appeal last year and now we’re aiming to collect even more glasses this year, which help to make a massive difference to people with little access to optical care.’
