Walsall Specsavers’ receptionist, Alison Jennings, went above the call of duty on 2 October when she came to the rescue of a very poorly customer.
The gentleman, who had come into the store for an adjustment, keeled over and dropped to the floor in reception. Alison, who is also the store’s first aider, quickly came to the rescue – performing CPR and calling the paramedics who then took the customer to hospital.
Later that day the duty paramedic called the store to congratulate Alison and said that without her intervention the customer wouldn’t have made it to the hospital.
‘We are so very proud of Alison and what she did that day – she’s a true star,’ said Chris Parrish store director. ‘The incident has really highlighted to us the importance of first aid in the workplace and of having trained staff on hand.’
