Children at a local Brownies will now be safer when out and about in the community, thanks to a high-visibility vest donation from a local opticians.
Children at the Brownies group in Wallsend were presented with vests from Specsavers opticianss to ensure they are safer when walking to and from school, or on a Brownies trip, during the dark winter months.
Staying Safe in the Winter Months
The 50 high-visibility vests were donated to the primary school as part of an initiative set up by Specsavers to increase the safety of local children when out and about.
Terry Gallagher, store director at the Specsavers in Wallsend, said: ‘It is more difficult for motorists to see pedestrians in the dark mornings and nights.
‘We wanted to help increase the safety of children in the local community by offering the Brownies high-visibility vests so that children can be better seen by motorists when walking near busy roads.’
