Staff at Specsavers Uttoxeter opticians raised their glasses to the store’s 10th anniversary in October.
The store first opened in 2004 with just a handful of staff, carrying out approximately 80 eye examinations a week. Today, a team of 20 carry out more than double that amount of sight tests per week.
The store is run by husband and wife team Mark and Jennie Orgill who have more than 30 years’ optical experience between them. The couple met just before the store opened and married in 2007.
‘It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years - it has flown by,’ said Mark. ‘It’s testament to the team and our loyal customers that we have remained a success, a particular achievement in this tough economic retail climate.
‘Over the years our values and commitment have remained the same – ensuring that we provide the very best in eye care to all our customers. We’re now looking ahead to the future and are hoping to expand within the next six to 12 months, ensuring that we can meet increasing demand.’
Specsavers in Uttoxeter is fully equipped with two optical consulting rooms; one on the ground floor and a further one upstairs.
The store also boasts all the latest in eye care equipment, including a digital retinal camera which takes a picture of the back of the eye, playing an important role in the early diagnosis and prevention of many health conditions. Unlike many other opticians, Specsavers doesn’t charge extra for this service.
The Uttoxeter store is open seven days a week and offers ten eye clinics every week including sight tests every Sunday.
